Elizabeth Colley

LABORATORY DIRECTOR

Elizabeth (Beth) is the co-founder, senior vice president and laboratory director of Holburn, leading the technical development and direction of our laboratories. She is responsible for the daily operation of our laboratories, including staff recruitment and training, liaison for external and internal clients, data analysis, compliance, quality assurance, document control and report generation.

During her time at Holburn, Beth was a member of Agilent’s (Dako) Key Opinion Leader Board for their novel pathology products, was active in the development of companion diagnostics and oversaw the introduction of PDL1 testing across Canada, enabling the launch of the cancer drug: Keytruda. She also took an active part in supervising the quality and control of device testing for clinical products from development phases into clinical trials.

Prior to Holburn, Beth was employed in several hospital laboratories, honing her skills for the leadership positions that followed.  This included senior technical positions in contract research organizations and expansion of molecular pathology services in private clinical institutes.  In addition, Beth was a lecturer in histopathology at the Ontario Tech University (UTO).

The supervisory and team experiences learned while empowering her staff to excel not only guided Beth’s work experience but also provided her with the capabilities to play an active part in the board of Big Sisters Little Sisters, including three years as board chair.

Beth obtained her MLT and ART qualifications from Mohawk College. She has several publications and has supported the academic work conducted while working at McMaster University and UTO.
